How long does it Take to Form a Company?

All companies in the UK are registered by the government. How long it takes to “register” your company depends on how the company is sent to Companies House (known as being “presented”).

There are 3 levels of service:

  • Online
This will usually take 3-5 busiess hours from presentation in the majority of cases
  • Online same day
The presented company “jumps the queue” of online companies – takes under 2 hours
  • Paper forms
Postage time to get to Companies House and then usually 1 or 2 business days

If a company that has been presented gets rejected, it goes to the back of the queue when it is re-presented.

After Company Formation has Submission

From the point where a new company is submitted to Companies House, it normally takes between 3 and 5 hours for the company to be officially formed. Sometimes there can be complications which mean that the company can be rejected by Companies House for a number of reasons. We undertake thorough checks on all new companies in order to flag potential problems. In many cases if your company formation is rejected by Companies House then we will resubmit them for free.

Companies House will normally only register companies between 9am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday. Occasionally Companies House works ouside these hours and have even registered companies on a weekend. Companies submitted outside of these hours will be formed on the next working day.
